Chinese-Herbal-Pharmacy-Palm-Beach-GardensCHINESE HERBAL MEDICINE – Frustrations with conventional medicine have forced many people in the western world to seek viable alternative methods to treat their health problems. At the forefront of this movement is Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine, a way of safely treating disease using the holistic model, with profound efficacy and few side effects.

The Chinese Materia Medica outlines a vast number (in the thousands) of medicinal plant and mineral substances. Roots, Leaves, flowers, stems and seeds of plants are used. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, herbs are often combined to produce powerful formulas that are prescribed to be consumed as capsules, liquid extracts, teas, granules, or powders. Chinese herbal formulas can address a myriad of conditions and symptoms including back pain, hormonal imbalance, depression, insomnia and many others.

Chinese-Cupping-in-Palm-Beach-GardensCHINESE CUPPING – According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), Chinese cupping therapy is a method of creating suction, a vacuum (via the cup), on a person’s skin to alleviate stagnation of blood, lymph and qi. Facilitating qi flow can remedy chronic conditions such as pain of the low back, neck and shoulder, while also treating diseases such as the common cold, bronchitis and pneumonia.

Cupping therapy, like acupuncture, is painless and has few, if any, side effects. The cups can leave healing reactions on the skin, a red circle, that usually dissipates within a few days. On the upside, patients usually feel significant relief from cupping therapy on the first treatment. Much like acupuncture, cupping therapy has been performed by the Chinese for thousands of years, via bamboo cups, and has evolved into the plastic or glass suction style cup seen in many clinics today.

DRY NEEDLING – Dry Needling, often referred to and known as Ashi needling or trigger point therapy, is actually one of the earliest forms of acupuncture. It involves the needling of trigger points or specific and precise areas of pain. Unlike other acupuncture modalities and treatments, it does not require further diagnosis or TCM philosophy and treatment protocols, rather a more straightforward anatomical approach.

The patient will typically describe the area of musculoskeletal pain, once the area is determined through palpation, muscle and range of motion testing, many needling techniques and styles of needle stimulation can be applied for effective relief. The patient will notice a decrease in pain and improved range of motion over time, depending on the chronic or acute nature of the issue.

HOLISTIC PAIN MANAGEMENT & PRE-OP INJECTION THERAPY – At South Florida Acupuncture Associates, we have pioneered an alternative preoperative injection protocol based upon acupuncture technique and principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine which when administered within 24 hours of your surgery, reduces the physiological and emotional trauma of surgery.

The technique involves injection of lidocaine or Arnica, a homeopathic anti-inflammatory, at 6-10 specific acupuncture points that will decrease preoperative anxiety, decrease the intraoperative and postoperative perception of pain and reduce or eliminate postoperative nausea and vomiting. The overall benefit will include faster mobilization, decreased postoperative medication need and shorter hospitalization. The technique is effective regardless of the type of surgery performed.

CBD ENHANCED TREATMENTS / PRODUCTS – Cannabidiol is a popular natural remedy used for many common ailments. Better known as CBD, it is one of the 104 chemical compounds known as cannabinoids found in the cannabis or marijuana plant, Cannabis sativa. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the main psychoactive cannabinoid found in cannabis and causes the sensation of getting “high” that’s often associated with marijuana. However, unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive.

This quality makes CBD an appealing option for those who are looking for relief from pain and other symptoms without the mind-altering effects of marijuana or certain pharmaceutical drugs. CBD oil is made by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant, then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil. It’s gaining momentum in the health and wellness world, with some scientific studies confirming it may help treat a variety of ailments like chronic pain and anxiety.

Here are several health benefits of CBD oil that are backed by scientific evidence:

  1. Pain Relief
  2. Stress and Anxiety
  3. Common side effects from Chemotherapy
  4. Neurological Disorders

We offer a full line of CBD products from topicals to ingestible. To find out if CBD products or CBD enhanced treatments are right for you or someone you know, contact us and we’ll see if we can help and guide you in the right direction.

It applies brief, concentrated micro current impulses to specific treatment points that naturally reduce nervous system STRESS, relaxing muscle tone and releasing the body’s natural pain killers. This multi-pronged effect on the body’s nervous, muscular and endocrine systems is the reason why our Neuro Stim treatments work so fast and effective with many chronic conditions. This is also a great option for our younger patients or pediatric patients.

ELECTRO ACUPUNCTURE – is acupuncture with an additional pulsating electrical current applied to the acupuncture needles to provide more stimulation. It is often used when more stimulation is needed, as in cases of pain, spasm and paralysis. The needles are applied as they normally would, with electrodes then being attached to the needle to provide the added stimulation.

AURICULAR (EAR) ACUPUNCTURE – one of the most widely used microsystems in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture needles are applied to points on the ear. Microsystems use a part of the body such as the ear, hand or foot to treat conditions that could be presented on any part of the body. For example, back pain could be treated just by strategically placing needles on acupoints on the ear. This is a powerful system many times used in conjunction with the traditional style of acupuncture.

MOXIBUSTION – another aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine that uses dried mugwort, also called moxa, which is applied to specific acupuncture points on the body. Moxibustion facilitates healing by stimulating blood and Qi flow to rid the body of certain pathogens. This is another modality often used to complement acupuncture treatment.

TUINA MASSAGE – a form of acupressure massage that is often used to complement the acupuncture treatment. This massage stimulates acupuncture points on the body to help relieve stress, improve circulation, and reduce pain. This is another component of Traditional Chinese Medicine dating back to the Shang Dynasty around 1700 B.C.

HOMEOPATHY –  was initially discovered by a physician named Samuel Christian Hahnemann in Germany sometime around the end of the 18th century. He posited that a substance that causes disease like symptoms in healthy people could possibly cure the same symptoms in unhealthy people. Out of this he derived The Principle of Similars or “like cures like”.

HOMEOPATHIC INJECTION THERAPY – Also known as Biopuncture or Mesotherapy. This is a therapy whereby homeopathic products are injected into specific acupuncture points to relieve pain or to provide relief from other conditions. It has a wide variety of applications including pain management, weight loss, cellulite reduction & face and neck rejuvenation used in cosmetic acupuncture.
